Tampa artist Jason Skeldon, better known by his artistic alias "SKEL," has built a reputation as one of the Bay area's most recognizable contemporary pop artists. Known for his vibrant colors, street-art influences, and bold cultural commentary, Skeldon has transformed a passion for painting into a nationally recognized brand while remaining deeply connected to the Tampa community.

Originally from Las Vegas, Skeldon has spent most of his life in Tampa, where he developed his distinctive artistic style without attending formal art school. Instead, he taught himself through years of experimentation with spray paint, acrylics, watercolors, stencils, and resin. His work often blends elements of pop culture, music, sports, motivational themes, and current events into colorful, energetic compositions that appeal to collectors from a wide range of backgrounds.

Before becoming a full-time artist, Skeldon worked as a paramedic. He has said that painting became an outlet for managing the stress and emotional demands of emergency medicine. What began as a personal creative escape quickly evolved into a professional career after friends shared his artwork on social media, generating dozens of commission requests almost overnight.

Today, SKEL's artwork can be found in galleries and commercial spaces throughout Florida and beyond, including the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa, hotels, restaurants, and private collections across the United States and internationally. His client list includes celebrities such as Michael Jordan, Kevin Hart, Taylor Swift, Hulk Hogan, Akon, Rashad Evans, Wade Boggs, Ian Somerhalder, and Jameis Winston. He has also collaborated with brands including Nike, Lamborghini, Neiman Marcus, MCM, and Bulleit Bourbon.

Beyond his commercial success, Skeldon has become an active participant in Tampa's growing arts community. His exhibitions frequently attract large crowds, and his work has appeared at Art Basel Miami, Tampa gallery events, and numerous charity exhibitions over the past decade. His exhibitions combine live entertainment, fashion, and immersive experiences, reflecting his belief that art should be interactive and accessible rather than confined to traditional galleries.

With a style that blends street art, pop culture, and positive messaging, Jason "SKEL" Skeldon continues to push creative boundaries while helping strengthen Tampa's reputation as a thriving destination for contemporary art. His journey from self-taught painter to internationally collected artist serves as an example of how determination, originality, and entrepreneurship can transform a local talent into a nationally recognized creative force.
